Space for Us Contest Policy
1. Contest Overview The “Space for Us!” contest is an online competition hosted by the Future Human Foundation, in partnership with Innovimia Technologies Inc. The contest is designed to encourage Canadian high school students to explore, innovate, and present ideas on how space-related technologies can positively impact our lives over the next decade.
2. Eligibility
- Participants must be Canadian residents enrolled in a Canadian high school (grades 9-12).
- Each team must consist of 2 to 4 students and be supervised by a STEM or Career teacher.
- Teams must register with all required information before the registration deadline.
- Only one entry per team is allowed.
- Immediate family members of employees or representatives of Future Human Foundation, Innovimia Technologies Inc., or affiliated sponsors are not eligible to participate.
3. Registration
- Registration is open as announced on the main contest page. Late registrations will not be accepted.
- To register, each team must submit the names of all team members, school name, province, and teacher supervisor information.
- By registering, participants agree to comply with all contest rules and policies.
4. Submission Guidelines
- Submissions must focus on space-related technology ideas and how they can impact society within the next 10 years.
- Each submission must follow the provided format.
- All submissions must be original and created solely by the registered team members.
- Submissions are due by the date announced on the contest page. Late entries will not be considered.
5. Judging Criteria Entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges based on the following criteria:
- Innovation and Creativity (30%): Originality and uniqueness of the concept.
- Impact Potential (30%): Potential to benefit society and the relevance of the idea to real-world issues.
- Feasibility (20%): Practicality of implementing the idea with existing or near-future technology.
- Presentation and Clarity (20%): Clarity, coherence, and quality of the submission materials.
6. Intellectual Property and Permissions
- By entering the contest, participants grant Future Human Foundation, Innovimia Technologies Inc., and their partners the right to use submitted ideas, including images, text, and videos, for promotional purposes.
- Teams retain ownership of their original ideas; however, by submitting, they give permission for non-exclusive use by contest organizers for marketing, educational, or informational purposes.
- Any use of copyrighted materials without permission will lead to disqualification.
7. Conduct and Disqualification
- Participants are expected to uphold academic honesty and integrity. Plagiarism, fabrication, or misrepresentation will lead to immediate disqualification.
- Any attempt to falsify information, manipulate results, or disrupt the contest process is prohibited and may result in disqualification.
- Disqualified teams are ineligible for awards or recognition and may be excluded from future contests.
8. Liability
Future Human Foundation, Innovimia Technologies Inc., and their affiliates, employees, and representatives (“Contest Organizers”) are not liable for any claims, damages, losses, or injuries arising from or related to participation in the Space for Us! contest, including but not limited to:
- Technical and Submission Issues: Contest Organizers are not responsible for technical issues, network failures, or submission errors that may affect entry.
- Unauthorized Access or Interference: Contest Organizers assume no responsibility for entries compromised by third-party interference, hacking, or other unauthorized actions.
- Personal Injury or Property Damage: Contest Organizers are not liable for injuries, accidents, or property damage arising from participation in the contest.
- Expenses for Participation: Contest Organizers are not responsible for any costs incurred by participants in creating or submitting their ideas, including materials, software, or other resources.
- Intellectual Property Disputes: Participants are responsible for ensuring their submissions do not infringe on third-party rights. Contest Organizers are not responsible for disputes over intellectual property and participants agree to indemnify Contest Organizers for any related claims.
- Privacy and Data Security: Contest Organizers will strive to protect participants’ personal data but are not liable for unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss resulting from third-party breaches.
- Changes or Cancellation: Contest Organizers reserve the right to modify or cancel the contest and are not liable for any disappointment, loss, or damages resulting from these changes.
By participating in the Space for Us! contest, participants agree to release Contest Organizers from all claims or liabilities related to their involvement.
9. Privacy
- Personal information collected during registration will only be used for contest administration and will be kept confidential in accordance with Canadian privacy laws.
- Participants agree to have their names and team information shared publicly if they are selected as winners or featured participants.
10. Changes and Cancellations
- Future Human Foundation reserves the right to modify the contest rules, judging criteria, or deadlines as necessary.
- If unforeseen circumstances arise, the contest may be canceled at the discretion of the Future Human Foundation without liability to participants.
